I have been making images since I can remember. Colour has always been my thing. Whether taking photographs for inspiration or simply capturing the memory of a moment, colour is key.
Can one understand beauty without understanding pain? Washed up bluebottles, gleaming like jewels in the morning light. The fear of stepping on an electric blue tentacle hidden in the sand. Always pushing boundaries, I hope to bring a spectrum of libertine energy to paint the light we cannot see.
Mentored by the late Albert Irvin RA, who reinforced my confidence in colour. I have produced a body of work representing her desire to capture all that matters.
I studied Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University and gained a First Class honours degree in Fine Art. My painting has always developed from memories and feelings associated with travel and experiences. I am very fortunate to have travelled to many places and my inspiration is broad.
Photography is often the starting point to my painting but it is also an important tool that captures precious fleeting moments. Below are some photographs of my travels that have provided inspiration.
